Top Safety Accreditation

Commercial Photographer Peter Davey, is one of the latest group of successful companies to join a leading edge scheme, designed to help industry improve its safety record.

The High Wycombe based firm recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.

Specialising in the Commercial Photographic and Video Production industries whos client based include both household names as well as many local small and Medium.

The company’s application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business and to meet growing client needs.

SAFEcontractor accreditation is expected to enhance the company’s ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.

SAFEcontractor is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of our commercial services.

John Kinge, Head of Risk at SAFEcontractor said, "Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies".

"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Peter Davey has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector".

Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website, www.safecontractor.com

Employer-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These employers agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received accreditation.

Over one hundred and fifty major nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.

Angry Kid (DJ) The Photoshoot

Well you wouldn't believe how interesting locations in and around High Wycombe can be. We spent the day with Angry Kid (DJ) the lovely Cassie Donnie Valenti with hair and make up courtesy of Natasha Goodhand-Tait. Locations were kindly provided by Bucks New University, Evans Furniture and Wycombe Air Park.
We were hoping for a nice flat grey sky so the lighting we were using would be less of a challenge, but no, the sun came out. What a photographer that doesn't like the sun, well no, not on this occasion, but saying that,  towards the end of the day the lovely yellow light did really set the mood for some of the images. As always working in public places with a camera you'll always draw a crowd and that we did.
We've updated the Visual Solutions Facebook page with a preview album where there are a lot more images to see.

Calling All Businesses

So in a short sentence how’s 2012 started for you ? Busy, Slow or about the same?

Business’s still seem to be facing tough times, smaller client budgets, longer lead and decision making times, marketing not being a priority.

So how does a business face these challenges:
  • ·         Continue to cut marketing spend?
  • ·         Encourage clients to up their marketing spend while others cut theirs.
  • ·         Engage in Social Media Campaigns? But do you know what you are doing?
  • ·         Hire or Fire Staff?
  • ·         Push into vertical markets or seek something new?

The Olympics, the biggest local opportunity or are all your current suppliers going to desert you, do you have a Plan B and I don’t mean the pop star.  Have you even thought about this?

Is there another supplier out there that will fill the gap?

Comment below and let me know what you think.

Welcome to 2012

Happy New Year to everyone. Well what a start to the year it’s been. We’ve been busy working with Celebrity Big Brother on the Paparazzi Beep Test, see our listing on the Big Brother website and the photo gallery on our Facebook page.

Then we were off into London to Battersea Evolution for a 720 guest corporate party, providing assistance to cover the event photography. It’s an amazing venue, well worth a look.
The next couple of weeks sees us working with both existing and new clients across varied industrial and commercial sectors.

So 2011 rounded off the year working for Home Retail Group, owners of Argos, Habitat and Homebase at their studios in Milton Keynes shooting a wide range of products for the new Argos catalogue and website.
December was spent working with Wycombe Swan covering the party season with the Print on Demand service. Added to that was the provision of a specialist Time Lapse Camera covering engineering works on the rail network, which meant working both days and nights right through the Christmas period.

We’re looking forward to a busy year.
